Artist Statement:
Anjeli is a self-taught embroidery artist who creates vivid portraits, pop-art inspired work and abstract pieces by commission. With an artistic background in drawing and painting, Anjeli’s textile pieces often incorporate painted or 3D elements. Her practice gravitates towards portraiture but abstract forms feature prominently in her work. She is inspired by nature and employs unusual colour schemes; high-contrast and high saturation. She eschews straight lines in favour of highly textured and irregular forms. |
