Joining us

Professional artists (part/full time) and living in Central Fife can apply to join CFAC.

As a member you will benefit from being able to take part in varied events, connecting directly to the public, selling your work, taking commissions, demonstrating your practice, discussing your work and inspirations, signing visitors up to classes, connecting with other artists, making contacts with galleries and benefiting from the opportunity to hear feedback from the public directly about your work.

You will have a permanent page on our CFAC website where you can add images of your work, and information and links to all different aspects of your creative practice.

You will be asked for the following information which will be shared with members of the committee for consideration:
* your name
* your address
* the address of your studio
* good quality images of your work and a link to your website if you have one.
* detail of your practice (see form for further info).
* information about where your work has been exhibited, commissions undertaken etc.
* an up-to-date CV outlining qualifications and experience.

- Applications for 2026 are now closed-

Our events take place across the year, including our annual Open Studios in September, and all our publicity materials are prepared months in advance.  Applications for new members opens early in the year, with updates being posted on social media. All new applications are considered and selected by our committee members and successful applicants will be notified shortly after the close of applications.
The application deadline for CFAC 2026 was 1st March.

Criteria for joining
Central Fife Artist Collective is open to artists and designer/makers living and working in the Central Fife region. We are happy to consider applications from artists who have achieved arts related qualifications at varying further educational levels, up to Degree level and beyond, as well as those who have pursued alternative creative pathways/routes and will look closely at all work submitted. Decisions are based on the quality of work and the professionalism of the artist.

You need to be working full or part-time as a professional artist or designer/maker with a permanent workspace or studio space in our geographical area. Your work must be of a high standard and reflect a professional approach to your chosen discipline.

For our Open Studios event, you need to be willing to open your studio (or a shared and publicly accessible space) to the public for the duration and be able to speak to visitors about your work.

If using a shared space with other artists, they must be fellow CFAC members.

As a professional artist/maker, you will also be responsible for your own public liability insurance.

Make sure you include all of the information above in your submission and approach it in a professional manner. Application assessments are based on the information and images supplied in the form. Social media links alone will not be considered; these will only be looked at as a back-up.

All applications are considered using a points based system to ensure a level playing field and remove the possibility of bias. If you do not provide any of the information asked for, we will be unable to process your application.

If you have any issues with accessing or completing the online form please contact [email protected].

You will also be expected to help with distribution of publicity materials in the run up to events, attend meetings arranged by the committee, as well as contribute to the cost of events through an annual fee.

Funding
Every CFAC member pays an annual fee of £30 (2026 price).

Membership fees cover the organisational running costs, website hosting/maintenance, social media promotion and the production of publicity materials and advertising.

To take part in events, fees are calculated and announced to all members before progressing with organisation. These simply cover the cost of running the events, such as Open studios, Adam Smith events and the Fruitmarket Bookmarket. Event costs are shared equally amongst those taking part.

Our aim is to keep fees low and the cost of event participation can vary each year depending on the number of participating artists involved.

CFAC Disciplines
Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, jewellery, textile work, metal work, glass, ceramics/pottery, sculpture, woodwork are all included. All work must demonstrate skill, craftsmanship and design – the use of kits/piecing together bought-in pieces is not acceptable.

I'm just starting out – can I take part?
It doesn't matter how long you have been in business or how or where you learnt to do what you do as long as you have a work space or studio and that your work is of excellent quality and you are able to present it and talk about it in a professional manner.

We are a group of amateur artists/makers – can we take part?
No. Central Fife Artists’ Collective was set up to support professional artists/makers who are making, or attempting to make, at least part of their living from their artistic practice. While we recognise that many amateurs will be producing work of a very high quality, there are other events/exhibitions which can support them to show their work.

CFAC Geographical Area
The event covers the Central Fife area, stretching from Inverkeithing and North Queensferry in the west, up to Glenrothes, Leven and Lower Largo in the east.
