Syrah Jay

Syrah Jay originally studied textiles at DJCAD this is where she discovered her love of colour, form, pattern & textures. After graduating she wanted to combine these elements with her love of jewellery and create her own bespoke pieces using alternative materials. She first opened for business in 2007, with a range of handmade felted jewellery and accessorises, combining traditional wet felting, needle felting and sewing techniques. which she sells throughout several galleries and boutiques and seasonal craft events. Along with designing jewellery Syrah also teaches a variety of art and craft skills from felting, sewing, and jewellery making to paper crafts and printmaking. Syrah's inspiration comes from all manner of sources, from art and photography to architecture, the world of fashion, interior design and of course craft, but she has have found that the people she meets in her teaching role have been the most influential and proven time and again that being creative is also good for your wellbeing. Making something by hand makes you feel happy!
