Artist statement:
Vanessa mainly uses furniture as a canvas to draw and paint on, creating extreme upcycled pieces featuring song lyrics. She has developed a very distinctive, highly decorative style where words are hidden in plain sight. Vanessa has participated in various mural and public sculpture projects. She also creates unique upcycled clothing, often experimenting with hand batik and applique techniques. She makes slang artworks responding to found objects, as well as hand painted slang-badges. Vanessa also makes artist books. |
